I wrote this poem when I was in a space of trying to figure out what my sister was going through. The person that has inspired me to join the fight for those who suffer with Mental Illness is one of my sisters. Currently she is working towards getting better but I often wondered on those days that she was not good at all what was going on in her head. I would watch her and how she moved and the things she said. It inspired the poem you will read below.

I encourage anyone that may have someone in their life suffering with a Mental Illness to not just act as if everything is okay or think that with just prayer everything will get better. See information…seek help.

Faith Without Works Is Dead

James 2:14-26 (New King James Version)

14 What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? 17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

18 But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your[a] works, and I will show you my faith by my[b] works. 19 You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble! 20 But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?[c] 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? 22 Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? 23 And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.”[d]And he was called the friend of God. 24 You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only.

25 Likewise, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out another way?

26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

I am but a small voice now
In a room full of voices
Some are shy
Some are playful
And many are mean
They talk with me
And rationalize with me
But yet I still feel small and insignificant
Others look at me strange
As if I am no longer am myself
But I am me
Can’t they hear me
I hope they can because sometimes I am not even sure I can I find myself doing and saying
These things that are not me
But the others say that is the only way I can be free
But I often question if that is so
Because days like today
I find myself being escorted by cops
Into the back of an ambulance
I am screaming now but no one can hear
I am still just this small voice
In a room full of voices
And now I am wondering when it will be just me

Mental Illness and Minorities

As I research further into the world of mental illness I realize how lack of communication, knowledge, income and medical coverage can truly affect the way a person gets treated for mental illness. On a personal level I realize that communication and knowledge it what has been hindering someone I care about from seeking the help that is needed.

The below link is from an article from a site called Healthy Place  (healthyplace.com) on Mental Illness and how it affects the minority community.

I love Chrisette Michele for the artist that she is but I love her even more for staying true to who she is. Knowing that beauty is truly from the inside out and not the other way around. You can be the prettiest thing in the world but still be ugly due to your attitude.

I love the new you!

Getting a New Morning Schedule

I am so ready for my vacation next week I thought about all the things I wanted to accomplish while I will be aware. Besides family time and REST I need to re-work my daily schedule. Specifically the morning. I was reminded the other day of how important having a daily schedule that works is. So for right now I am just letting the rest of this week finish out but in the back of my mind I am thinking about how refreshed and ready to start my week off right I will be after a much needed vacation.

How do you keep your week flowing for you?

One other site provides information on where to get the local honey (try health foods stores such as Whole Foods as well)

Note: With anything natural still check with your doctor before using. If you already use honey in your home try it out(that is local honey)

Women’s Health Magazine online posted an article on ” Six Slimming Alternatives to Bottled Water”

http://www.womenshealthmag.com/weight-loss/weight-loss-drinks

Out of the six options given I swear by two of the. I love the Sobe Water and Vitamin water. Whenever I feel for a pick me up and I know I haven’t had enough water for the day I reach for either one. Sobe Water though is a better options I think if you are looking for a water substitute.

Check it out and let me know what you think
