Airline Being Sued Because of Crying Baby – OMG

I have been traveling since I was a baby. My mother and father would travel back and forth to Trinidad and I spent most of my summers there.  We waited for our daughter to be a little bit older before we got on a plain with her and I am very happy that we did. We can count on her sleeping most of the trip (lol) and she is at that stage that we have enough to keep her busy. So when I read the below article this morning all I could say is OMG..Oh My Goodness lol. How can you sue an airline for something that they have no control over? And how can you feel away about something that a baby does. I realize that we have those moments that we just want to have quiet but when you are on a plan with other people you give up the right lol. At least that his how I feel.

I am sure that this Civil Law Suit will not go far but just the fact that this woman is blaming her hearing lost on a crying baby (and not the fact that she is just getting older) is insane.

How do you feel about crying babies?

Never Give Up On Getting The Belly Tight

Filed under: Health,Heath and Fitness,Motherhood,My Life,Parenting — thesuperwomenblog @ 8:05 pm

I was talking to a cousin the other day and she said to me “I think for women after you reach a certain age your belly is just meant to be a certain way”. We both laughed about it but it caused me to think. That really should not be the mentality.

So today  I received my WebMD – Everyday Fitness e-mail about loosing that belly fat. I know for me I really put on weight around the mid-section after I have my daughter. I know for some people it can be a medical conditon like cyst. But overall I don’t think that we should give up the fight against the “Muffin Top” as many call it. So I challange those of you today who are determined to loose that midsection or at least get to a point where your clothes feel comfortable and implement some of the suggestions mentioned. Let me know how it works out for you. I plan on working it out too. Because I don’t know about you but I am not ready to accept it…not yet.

What you should know about Crohn’s and Colitis

I never heard about Crohn’s Disease until I found out that someone in my circle suffered with it. I myself suffered with stomach problems. I had gallstones at the age of 21 and didn’t do anything about it until after I had my daughter and ended up in hospital to have surgery. But what I experienced is nothing compared to someone that suffers with Crohn’s Disease.

Crohn’s Disease is an ongoing disorder that causes inflammation of the digestive or gastrointestinal  tract. It is mostly common in the small intestine and/or colon.

There has been a steady increase in reported cases of both Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis among African Americans.

To get more information on this disease visit the website for the Crohn’s Foundation of America

Here you can read more information about Crohn’s and Colitis. Also get information on how you can help the cause.

Also if you love to walk why not walk for the cause. Find out where there is a walk near you. NYC is June 12th.

Please help the cause and support Danielle M. Kennedy-Wilson with her Family and Friends raise money to find a cure for Crohn’s and Colitis.

Upper Respiratory Infection = Common Cold

It started Sunday the week before last. We were out in New Jersey and getting ready to go back to Brooklyn when my daughter suddenly came down with a fever. Now she wasn’t feeling well from Friday but I just assumed it was her allergies bothering her. She had no fever and maybe just a runny nose. Then Sunday she breaks into a fever and all I could think of is that she was sick about 2 weeks prior. I gave her some Tylenol when I got back into Brooklyn but it just seemed as if the fever would not break. That Monday I took her to the doctor and that is when he let me know she had an upper respiratory infection and prescribed antibiotics and cough medicine for her. I was happy to finally know what was wrong with her. Started the antibiotics and was told to give her motrin for the fever. It was the 4 longest days ever because the fever just didn’t seem to want to break. By Thursday she showed signs of improvement and today she went back to school.

I am so glad that she is feeling much better but what made the difference was me finding out exactly what was wrong with her and making sure that I took the proper steps in order for her to get better. So as a parent I wanted to share some information with you on what is an Upper Respiratory Infection, how does one get it (especially children) and how treat it.

I found some very helpful information on Here is some information on exactly what upper respiratory infection is.

What is an upper respiratory infection (URI)?
An upper respiratory infection (URI), also known as the common cold, is one of the most common illnesses, leading to more doctor visits and absences from school and work than any other illness every year. It is estimated that during a one-year period, people in the US will suffer one billion colds. Caused by a virus that inflames the membranes in the lining of the nose and throat, colds can be the result of more than 200 different viruses. However, among all of the cold viruses, the rhinoviruses and the coronaviruses cause the majority of colds.

I Plan To Try These When I Get Home

Filed under: Health,My Life,Relaxation Techniques,Uncategorized — thesuperwomenblog @ 12:25 am

It has been a long day and I am still in the office. When I work this late I normally have a Grande Green Tea Latte from Starbucks and that calms me down (thanks for the green tea baby). But today that did not work for me. So I came across a tweet from Women’s Health Magazine about “How To Relax Sore, Tired Muscles”.  So of course I wanted to see what some of these things were.

The first one was Headaches (I was meant to read this lol). I’ve had such a terrible headache all day long. I would take a pain meds but then it would come right back. So I decided to try this technique and believe or not it helped.

1. Headaches: Base of Skull
Place your fingertips on the base of your skull, where your neck muscles attach. Use the heel of your other hand to support your fingers and exert pressure. Relax your neck and let your head rest in your hands as you rub in small strokes across the muscle fibers.

There are a total of 5 ways to relax your muscles. If you are interested in trying them yourself check out the link below. And if you have someone special to help you out even better (wink lol).

Tonight it is just me and my daughter so I will be trying these out all alone.

Note: I am not an expert. I am just a person who is concerned about the mental health of all. Any information I share is for information purposes and personal knowledge.

Sanity 4.8.10

I wrote this poem when I was in a space of trying to figure out what my sister was going through. The person that has inspired me to join the fight for those who suffer with Mental Illness is one of my sisters. Currently she is working towards getting better but I often wondered on those days that she was not good at all what was going on in her head. I would watch her and how she moved and the things she said. It inspired the poem you will read below.

I encourage anyone that may have someone in their life suffering with a Mental Illness to not just act as if everything is okay or think that with just prayer everything will get better. See information…seek help.

Faith Without Works Is Dead

James 2:14-26 (New King James Version)

14 What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? 17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

18 But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your[a] works, and I will show you my faith by my[b] works. 19 You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble! 20 But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?[c] 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? 22 Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? 23 And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.”[d]And he was called the friend of God. 24 You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only.

25 Likewise, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out another way?

26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

I am but a small voice now
In a room full of voices
Some are shy
Some are playful
And many are mean
They talk with me
And rationalize with me
But yet I still feel small and insignificant
Others look at me strange
As if I am no longer am myself
But I am me
Can’t they hear me
I hope they can because sometimes I am not even sure I can I find myself doing and saying
These things that are not me
But the others say that is the only way I can be free
But I often question if that is so
Because days like today
I find myself being escorted by cops
Into the back of an ambulance
I am screaming now but no one can hear
I am still just this small voice
In a room full of voices
And now I am wondering when it will be just me
